The Huntley LIbrary Readers' Theater Troupe performed ""Forgiveness, Seven Dwarves-Style" written by Dean Herring. For the second performance, the kids performed the original script of "The 12 Days of Winter Break" written especially for Readers' Theater by the Huntley Public LIbrary Teen Zine Writers Group.
A tortoise! A duck! Hermit crabs! All came with Roxanne for this visit to the Huntley Library. Kids had a chance to pet some of these while learning about the animals.
This month in Art Discovery, members discoverd the amazing works of glass-blower/artist Dale Chihuly. Using plastic glassware and paints, kids designed and created their own artwork, mimicking the colors and designs of Chihuly's art-glass. (One of the Chihuly's amazing hand-blown, art-glass chandeliers can be seen locally, at the Montarra restaurant in Algonquin.)
Young artists discover a new way to use chalk! Chalk dust floated on water comes into contact with the paper, and sticks! Many colorful egg designs were completed in this fun art program.
Families came to visit our two special library friends, therapy dog Samson, who LOVES to hear stories being read to him! Watch the Library Links Newsletter for more opportunities to Read to a Dog!
These kids had a great time learning to crochet! Some made awesome chain scarves, and others worked on more complicated projects. Everyone learned to crochet and had fun!
Lego clubbers get together for a fun evening of building and creating! Members were challenged this month to build somehting that could dye or color Easter Eggs OR to build something that could get you to the bottom of the ocean.

Kids in grades 4-8 got together at the Huntley Area Public Library to create their own journals, diaries, and sketchbooks on November 3, 2011. Using a variety of materials, they made some really amazing creations (paint and duct tape were particularly popular). Once paint and glue dried, there was even time for some of them to get started writing and drawing!
The Art Discovery group designed and painted their own Jack O'Lanterns for Halloween! What a great (and messy!) time we had!! Great job, kids!
Our youngest artists used pastels to create artwork in the style of Wayne Thiebaud (Tea-bow). Take a look at the great work they did!
For the August 2011 gathering of the Lego Club, those in attendance were challenged to create something that would get them to school! A good time was had by all!
Mr. Freeze of Fermilab amazes the crowd at the Huntley Public Library on June 28. 2011. What a great show! This event was sponsored by Target and was part of the 2011 Reading is SWEET Summer Reading Adventure.
An art discovery program where the kids copperated to make several picture puzzles made out of candy and other fun objects... like the I Spy Books only more delicious!

Story Time
Story time at the Huntley Public Library is a fun time where children 2 -6 come to enjoy books! Join Miss Jodi as we enjoy stories, finger-plays, songs and more! Sessions last 20 minutes and take place in the library's program room. Register each week for the following week's session.
